What do you want this HOLIDAY Season

The holiday season is an especially busy time of year.
The expectations from society, friends, family and ourselves can be crazy making.
Have you ever experienced times that you are thrown in the company of family or acquaintances that push your buttons and make you want to scream?
Do you find that you sometimes react poorly to these situations?
When I am overwhelmed with things to do, I often lose the ability to respond effectively to the irritants in my life.
During the holidays, I find it is really easy to lose myself in the things I need to DO and forget to "BE” and simply enjoy what is going on around me.
During the holidays I find I have limited opportunities to take time out to nurture myself.
One of the things I like to do when I start getting overwhelmed and frustated with expectations I ask myself:
How do I want to BE this holiday season?
How do I want to "show up" with family and friends?
What Gift do you want to give myself?
Spending time with myself helps me feel more peace and contentment.
In just 5 minutes I can regroup, get centered and calm down my body so I can focus on my day.
As I spend more time with me, I get reconnected with what is important to me and how I want to be in my life.
I know I don't want to be a crazy person being triggered by Aunt Sally and Uncle Jack.
I would like to share with you a simple process to help you get reconnected with you this holiday season.
(This exercise takes no more than 3-5 minutes)
Turn off all electronics (TV, cell phone, computer etc.),
Sit quietly in a chair,
If you have limited time, set a timer so you know when the time is up.
Close your eyes and notice the sensations in your body
Breathe deeply for the count of 5 filling your lungs
Notice your surroundings
Notice the sounds around you
Notice your body sensations
Notice your thoughts
Quiet your mind chatter
Notice how you feel
Breathe.
What are you most grateful for?
Be in appreciation of this present moment
Ask yourself “what do I want”
What is one thing you can do RIGHT NOW to get closer to your goal?
ENJOY YOUR MOMENTS
Taking time to be by myself, even for a few moments, makes a huge difference in my day. It is not always easy to find these times, but with the intention of doing this, it is amazing the benefits I experience.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Do you have a way to quiet your mind and nurture yourself throughout your day?
