Real Life Trumps Beach Life - Every Time

Have you ever played bridge? When the players finish bidding they arrive at a suit that is called trump. Trump suits win every time, no matter if you have the highest card in the deck. What I noticed this last week is that Real Life held the trump card over my musings on the beach.
It is amazing how I was so clear and focused about what I wanted to do when sitting on the beach with my broader perspective of life. When I got home to the real world, the greatest plans to connect and write about my experiences fell by the wayside. That is my truth.
My life has been awesome and fulfilling but alas, I did not carry through on the writing of my experiences as I promised. I am giving myself permission to tell the truth about not doing what I said I was going to do and will find the silver lining in what I have been doing.
Where have I been
When I began my work on creating my moment-is community it was because I had become "an expert" of sorts in helping my clients decrease their stress and learn to live in the moment. I helped them discover ways to tune into their body, mind and emotions to feel better throughout their day. Living in the moment is so important but I think I jumped the gun. Eckhard Tolle speaks so eloquently about "The Power of NOW" however, making this a reality in our lives is a tall order.
Why is it important to live in the moment?
What is the benefit?
To put it simply - when we live in the moment or pay attention to our "in the moment" experiences we become more intuned with what is happening with us physically, emotionally and mentally. With this new found awareness, we can learn to manage our body’s reactions to these experiences which often causes our stress.
Managing these reactions helps us feel better.
Our society is overwhelmed with stress. Whether the stress is from financial worries, out of control expectations and commitments or simply trying to juggle all of the balls in our lives, we are suffering from the ill effects of stress. It is affecting our bodies, our families, our relationships and our communities.
The overabundance of adrenaline and cortisol running through our veins creates a physical burden on our bodies. With this increase in stress on the physical plane, we become foggier in our thinking, make poorer decisions, become short tempered, don't sleep well and life is not a lot of fun. Most of our stress comes from fighting "what is reality",i.e.“what is”.
Many people today spend a tremendous amount of energy fretting about the past, and worrying about the future neither of which are productive activities. With all of this worry, we tend to lose site of “What can I do NOW to improve this situation”?
Living in the moment makes us focus on our experience right now and 'what we can do about what is stressing us out NOW", not tomorrow but today, in this moment.
This past week I prepared and delivered my workshop entitled
"Living in the Moment 101". As I presented the material to the participants it became abundantly clear that people want help in managing their minds. Our minds have a tremendous ability to keep us in the worry cycle, with the accompanying self doubt, self abuse and negative thinking. Becoming aware of how we speak to ourselves, where we are with our thoughts and changing our negative self talk is a benefit of living in the moment.
I started to engage in some negative self talk and self abuse because I had not followed through on my commitment to blog frequently about my challenge of living in the moment. When I recognized what I was doing, I gave myself permission to tell the truth, and move on. The beach is a great place to vacation but it is not a great place to write a blog about what you want to do when you get home. Life happens and I know better now not to put that pressure on myself.
I wanted to let you know that I recently made some changes to the
moment-is community. If you sign up as a
Standard or
Premier member you are entitled to group coaching calls that are designed to help you work through these concepts.
I would love to help you find ways to be kinder and gentler to yourself. To help you learn effective ways of managing your stress and feeling better throughout your day.
I look forward to hearing from you and thanks for your feedback about my blog.
Take care and be kind to yourself. If you cannot be kind to you, who will be.
Blog with you later,
