3 ways to Slow down and Find Your Way

Posted on September 18, 2011 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Have you ever gotton lost and start to panic?

This being lost may be physically where you don't know how to get home again, or it may be lost in your life, feeling unsure of where to go to next, or how to move forward.

The natural tendency when this happens is to run faster, circle around, get flustered as you try and find your way.

Not only are you physically racing around but your mind is also racing along at a mile a minute.

Everything speeds up in a panic to try and get you to back to something familiar.

What can you do when this happens?

STOP, BREATHE, and REGROUP

Are you a HIGH Achieving Parent

Posted on June 6, 2011 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

If you are like most high achievers, you like the title? You set the bar high and pride yourself on doing whatever it takes to accomplish your goals.
You have the education, dedication and motivation to get the job done well.

As a high achiever you have probably gone to university and received specialized training to be good at your craft.
You have a strong work ethic and manage clients, patients, employees or contractors in the course of your work. Your work life consists of phrases such as contracts, standards, rules of engagement, return on investment, cost benefit analysis, projections, goals etc.
There is a knowingness and confidence that comes with the education and experience you bring to your job.

With all of this structure and control in your life do you find it challenging to put the same kind of tenacity into parenting your kids?

Let’s make Blue Monday "Turn it around" Monday!!

Posted on January 17, 2011 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

How are you doing on your intentions and resolutions for the New Year?

The Monday on the third week into the New Year has been coined “Blue Monday”.

It is known as the most depressing day of the year. Why? Because it is Monday, the weather is dreary, the days are darker and most people have dropped their New Year’s resolutions by this time.

Sometimes, it is hard to keep upbeat and positive when things are conspiring against you.

5 Steps to Success in 2011

Posted on January 4, 2011 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Many of us approach the New Year with Resolutions that are aimed at having us live our best life. We resolve to do things differently and embark on setting up Resolutions to put us back on the road to a healthier way of being.

Unfortunately the statistics show that 90% of us are not good at keeping our resolutions. Why is this? What can we do about it?

How do you feel when you break an agreement with yourself? I know when I break my commitments to myself, I lose trust in me.

Over the past couple of weeks I made some observations about new years’ resolutions PAST to determine what got in the way of accomplishing them and what I could have done differently.

I have identified 5 key steps for being successful in 2011.

"Having it All" from the Inside Out

Posted on November 15, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Are you a busy mom (or dad) caught up in the relentlessness of life, day in and day out doing the same thing over and over again?

Are you striving to “have it all, do it all and be it all” in your life?

“Having it all” is a term that gets passed around a lot these days.

For a good portion of society, “Having it all” means owning the car, big screen TV, house and toys that we want. In essence, "all" are material possessions or “stuff” that we finance through hard work and dedication.

Honoring The Agreements You Make With Yourself

Posted on November 1, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

This past weekend, I had the honor of accompanying a friend to the home of Don Miguel Ruis for a short visit and I was in awe.   Being in Don Miguel’s presence and witnessing his authenticity was a gift. I will remember this brief visit for a long time to come.

Do you Suffer from Guilty Mom Syndrome?

Posted on October 18, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

If you are like most working moms (inside or outside the home) you probably find yourself feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and guilty throughout your day.

Guilt is an epidemic in our society and working moms are especially prone to feeling like they never do enough, have enough or are enough for their kids.

Working moms want to be superhuman:  DO IT ALL, BE IT ALL and HAVE IT ALL WHILE being loving and patient in the process.  What an impossible task!!

These crazy, unrealistic expectations are sucking the life out of the heart and souls of moms everywhere.

It needs to stop.

Asking for help

Posted on October 12, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Asking for help is not always easy.

Last week I wrote a blog about “doing it alone” where I described some of my struggles in asking for and receiving help and support from others.

On a business level it is easier to ask for help because the demands and expectations of the job often require outside expertise to make things flow smoothly.

When it comes to heart stuff, asking for help takes on a whole new level of trust. The comments on my blog last week depicted the struggles many people feel in simply asking for help. Reaching out and being vulnerable can be pretty scary.

Finding inner peace

Posted on September 27, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

What a concept!

What percentage of your day do you feel a sense of inner peace?

Do you find that some days the expectations you carry and the demands on your  time are so huge that the disconnection between what you need to do, and want you want to do is overwhelming?

If your answer to this is yes then you are not alone.

Be Your Own Best Friend

Posted on June 21, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Years ago I read a book - "How to be your own best friend".  I do not remember the author but I do remember how the concept intrigued me.  It is amazing how often I would speak to myself in a way I would not speak to my enemies let alone a best friend.  Our mind chatter or inner critic that dwells within can be very abusive. How about you?  Do you have an inner critic that likes to tell you what more you should have done or could have done if only you were more committed, more enlightened, more organized etc.

How often do you give yourself a pat on the back, tell yourself you did a good job, or sing your praises to others?  If you are like most of my clients, you never or rarely give yourself any acknowledgement for a job well done.  Do you suffer from the "not enough" syndrome?  What this means is, no matter how hard you work or how good you are, you will never be enough, do enough or have enough to feel good enou

7 Reasons to Change ONE Habit at a time

Posted on June 9, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

When you look at your whole life, do you feel you need a major overhaul or just need a minor tune up?

For those of you who feel a major overhaul is in order, the tendency is to try and fix your whole life all at once. For a variety of reasons those who approach changing more than one habit or circumstance at a time, are often unsuccessful in achieving their goals.

Tune into your body

Posted on May 25, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Do you know what it feels like to tune into your body and your intuition?

Many people live in their heads.  They are caught up in the rat race of life that they rely on their head to get them to where they need to get to.  But...did you know that when you live only in your head you lose out on powerful messages that come from your inner wisdom or your gut sense.

How do you know you are living in your head?  Ask yourself, what are your thoughts?  Are they here in this moment , what can I do now, what am I feeling now, what do I want to accomplish now?  Or are they dwelling on the past or worrying about the future?  Many of us are anywhere but here.

Watch today's video blog to understand more about what means to Tune into your body

Summertime Connection and Fun

Posted on May 20, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Making this a reality for you Family

When you look ahead to summer, the knowledge that there will be less structure to your days can be very appealing. Imagining lazy days of sitting in the back yard or at the beach relaxing and enjoying the company of family and friends tends to dominate our thoughts.

However, creating the opportunity for quality connections and fun this summer does not happen without some intention, action and planning along the way.

What does your ideal summer look like?

Starting a Stress Revolution - Want to join me?

Posted on May 19, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

How many times do you hear “I am so stressed” during a single day?

Once, twice or several times a day. It is amazing how many people are stressed. This stress may be due to their finances, their job, their family, their car, their boss, their kids etc. The list is endless. We all can agree that people have reason to be stressed, but what can we do about it NOW.

Research and statistics show that stress can be blamed for about 80% of what ails us. But, what are we doing about it - many people are resigned to the fact that they are stressed. They don’t think there is anything they can do about it so they let it continue.

Stress hormone that accumulates in our body as the result of stress impacts not only our health but also our ability to think clearly and how we react to life’s challenges.

What does Having it All Really Mean?

Take Charge of Your Family Stress - What Now?

Posted on May 5, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Yesterday, I held the first of many webinars on "Taking Charge of Stress".  I have come to the conclusion that people are unaware of how much stress they and their family is under.  This lack of awareness is creating havoc on our health, our relationships and our performance.

Many people are resigned to the fact that their life is stressful and there is really nothing that they can do about it.  After all, we need to pay the bills, feed our children and make a living.  This is all true, but what many people fail to realize is that it not "What we have to do" that creates our stress, but our reaction to "What we have to do".

Between the stressful event and your reaction to it, you have a choice as how you can react.  Many people do not know any other way to be so they often act from anger, frustration, withdrawal or complacency.

Are you Interested in Complaining About Your Life or Doing Somthing About It?

Posted on March 30, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

How many times have you heard yourself telling the same story over and over about how this thing or that thing is not working in your life? Do you feel like a broken record? What are you doing to make things different in your life?

The truth is, many people are addicted to the drama in their lives. They would prefer to talk about what is wrong and get agreement from others than take steps to change or improve what they can.

Day 5 - Back to the Real World

Posted on February 8, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Getting back to the real world after being on vacation can be a rude awakening.  As I travelled back from Maui with it's sun, sand and surf, I felt an incredible sense of gratitude for all that I have in my life.  Living in the moment was easy to do as I took in my last day of Paradise with my family.  I did not keep notes for my blog as I decided to let let days 3 and 4 go unrecorded.  As a brief summary, they were amazing.  We had a beautiful last day, travelled the island to take in some different sites on our way to the airport.

Flying all night to get back home was a little exhausting and when I walked into the house and saw the stack of mail and emails I needed to deal with I felt a little overwhelmed.  However, I set up a plan and a strategy for how I wanted this week to go.  I feel ready to get back to the real world.

Living in the Moment is more challenging to do in the real

Day 2 - Living in the Moment or Trying To

Posted on February 5, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Day 2 - Living in the Moment is easier for me when I am on vacation..  There are no plans, no schedules.  Just being able to be with the fresh ocean air, the blue skies and the sensations that are going on in my body keeps me grounded in the present moment.

Did I keep my commitment to tuning into my body with my breath a minimum of 8 times during the day?

I am now asking myself, why did I commit to doing this?

Day 1 - Walking the Talk

Posted on February 4, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

So here I am Day 1 of my 21 day commitment to "Tuning into my body with my breath a minimum of 8 times during my waking hours".

As I write this Day 1 blog, I feel a little exposed.  Telling the truth about how I am trying to walk the talk on the content that I know so well is a bit scary.  What happens if people think I am a fraud?  Here I am sharing tools and techniques to help people stay grounded and connected with their "in the moment" experiences and I am struggling to achieve this myself.  But, I committed to telling the truth so here we go.

Did I follow through on my commitment?

4 Steps to Achieving Vibrant Physical Health

Posted on February 3, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Taking care of your physical health is something that has been written about in a multitude of ways so I am not going to try and rehash what the “experts” say you need to do. What I do know however is that taking care of me is sometimes easier said than done.   It can be a long, frustrating and lonely journey insuring that I do the things that I know help me to feel better.  I want this to change.  I want to take the steps I need to make sure that I am living the life I want.  So I am using this blog to do just that.

What I want to do through this blog is to test my belief: Change can happen slowly with the following 4 steps:
  1. Setting the intention
  2. Developing a strategy
  3. Creating a plan
  4. Telling the truth about what is working and what is not

What Do You Want Your Life to Look Like?

Posted on January 19, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

If you were to sit back today and take stock of your whole life, how are you doing? Take some time and look at the following categories. Write a list of the things you would like to complete in each of these areas. This list is not meant to stress you out but to bring into your conscious awareness the things in your life that you know need some attention. By being more aware of these areas, you can then set up a plan of what you can do to take care of them day by day.

Keeping your New Year's Resolutions - One Moment at a Time

Posted on January 4, 2010 12:00:00am, by Gerrianne Clare

Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions on January 1st then turn around and break them a week later.  People put pressure on themselves to change all of their bad habits at once, hoping that the New Year will bring in a New Resolve to make all the changes happen. This often fails however, as there is little thought put into how to create changes that are both positive and that can last.

With some soul searching and some planning this year, you can come closer to creating the changes you want in your life.
