4 Things You Can Do To Feel Better NOW

How often do you outline the things you need to change in your life order to feel better? The truth is, we only have this moment in time to do anything. We can plan for the future - in this moment. However, in this moment, we can only do what we can do NOW.
This may seem like a silly way of looking at things but more often than not, I hear clients comment about all of the changes they need to make in their lives to feel better. They want to lose weight, see a marriage counselor, stretch more, exercise more. We can sit and bemoan the fact that we have not done these things, but what can you do NOW to change how you feel NOW?
1. Notice how you are feeling in your body physically - NOW
- do you feel tension in your neck and shoulders
- knots in your stomach
- tension in the back of your throat
2. Notice how you are feeling emotionally - NOW
- Name it
- Express it
- Release it
For example:
If you are angry - what can you do NOW?
- Name it - when you name the emotion it loses power over us and we are more able to express and release it from our body
- Express it - Go have a screaming attack in your car, yell into a pillow, RAGE on the page - Find SAFE and APPROPRIATE WAYS to release the anger from your body. If we do not find ways to express it, often it comes out in the most inappropriate ways.
- Release it - This works along with expressing it. By giving yourself permission to let the energy out of your body you release the negativity from the body. When we let it go fully, it is gone and does not come back
3. Ask yourself - What do I want? NOW
- How do I want to be in my life? NOW
- How do I want to react to this situation? NOW
- What do I want to know about myself? NOW
4. Take action - NOW
- Take action NOW on one small thing you can do to feel better -
- Breathe deeply and intentionally
- BE aware of where you are and what your thoughts are now about the current situation.
- Remember, choosing to not do anything is choosing to keep things the way they are.
We are all in choice at any given time. Sometimes the choices are not black and white. There may be days that the choice is between feeling bad and feeling worse.
The pressure is within you to change.
Be gentle on yourself,
Learn to tune into the voices that live within you.
You have the answers, learning to hear those answers takes time and patience.
Much love,
Gerrianne
